Contacting Sellers
There are a few ways to contact sellers inside of VettX: Automated messages, manual texting and emailing, and adding external messages from 3rd party sources.
Automated Messages and How They Function
- If your Automations are turned on, moving a vehicle from Fresh to In The Works with a phone number or email will automatically send the seller a message.
- If you see a blue banner at the bottom of the vehicle card one it’s in In The Works, that indicates an email or text has been sent!
- Click on Contact Again at the bottom of the vehicle card to open the message box.
Manual Texting and Emailing
If you don’t have automation turned on, look at the bottom of the vehicle card. There are two ways to contact sellers here:

- This indicates that the seller has a phone number or email already on their listing!
- Click on Get in Touch Now. This will open the chat box in the bottom right hand corner

- Click on Email/SMS to switch between the two methods if the seller has both.
Here, you can type the message, or click on the small chat box with the star to use your templates. You can also add attachments and external messages.

No seller contact details available. Add Details
- This indicates that the seller did not provide a phone number or email on their listing
- Click on Add Details. This will open a chat box in the lower right corner.
- Click On Go to listing
- This will take you to the listing source where you can contact the seller.
- To message the seller on Facebook, look for the message box on the right hand side
- To message the seller on Craigslist, click on the Reply button. You can find an email, cell number, or the chat box here! If there’s an email/cell number, add it to the vehicle card in VettX.
- To message the seller on Cars.com, look for the message box on the right hand side
- To message the seller on Autotrader, look for the Make Offer and Schedule Test Drive buttons. Below that, you will see the Chat with Seller box. It will also show the sellers name and location. You can chat with the seller, make a flat our offer, or schedule a test drive. Schedule Test Drive will give the seller your information so they can contact your directly. VettX recommends utilizing this opinion. That way you can get their contact information and add it straight into VettX.
- Once you’ve messages the seller externally, go back to VettX. Log your external message by clicking where it says “If you’ve had a conversation with a seller outside of VettX, you can log it here.”
- Select where you messaged the seller
- Select the type of message (Incoming or Outgoing)
- Copy and paste your message in the message box.
- Click Confirm
To view all messages:
- Click on the chat box in the upper right hand corner of your screen
- You can view all messages sent by all users here. You can also see archived messages.
- You can also see your unanswered messages on your Dashboard!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What number and email will the seller see when messages are sent?
A: The seller will see the email you have integrated in your settings! The number they will see is a masked number. This allows VettX to record messages inside of the platform, as well as create a veil of privacy for you as a buyer. You will receive notifications via email and text.
